PC-Cop is a centralized system for the allocation and enforcement of time and use limits for public access computers. PC-Cop stands out in the industry for its versatility. The software is robust and customizable with several unique features. PC-Cop has extensive scalability in its operation.
PC-Cop controls how much time a patron may use a machine per day and per session.
Upon startup, the software provides a non-intrusive clock display of the available time remaining in the session.
Two warning messages are enabled, at intervals set by the Administrator, to advise the user of the pending end of a session.
When a user’s session time expires, PC-Cop ends the session and resets the computer to the determined beginning point.
PC-Cop recognizes when computers are available. If a Waiting List has not been generated, existing users are allowed to extend their session time.
An override password is provided so that a staff member can access any public PC and not be constrained by session limits.
PC-Cop allows machines to be grouped together by your criteria (department or function for example). Session time, warning messages, and grace periods can be set independently for each group of computers.
PC-Cop’s Self-Service Kiosk allows patrons to reserve a PC or get on the Waiting List.
The system supports dynamic real-time interchange of patron data with the Library’s circulation software.
PC-Cop offers automatic shut down at end of day based upon Library hours.
Large library systems or systems with geographically diverse locations may use PC-Cop’s distributed database feature to assure excellent network communications
